So i haven't updated in a month. Want to know why? Blogger apparently had to switch servers to google (which obvioiusly is taking over the world). So, you know, i go to the log-in page and it demands that i create a google account?! Which i suppose is really no big deal, just king of uneccesary. I signed up with google, and then tried to proceed to my blog. Only, my password and username were not valid; strange. Instead of bringing me to my page, it kept reloading the log-in page. This eventually got frusterating and i gave up. A few days later i tried again. Still no go.

Andddd i tried again today, and suddenly it works! I'm dissapointed with google, but glad to have this back. Expect more entries soon!

Some crocheted bracelets! These are the most time-consuming projects i've taken the time to do. They're made up of hundreds of seed beads. First i have to string them all, then each is incorporated into a stitch to make a spiral-like tube. Definitely a pain. But for some reason i like this kind of stuff...

ahem.

So this is just a little something i made over the summer. It's crocheted with 28 gauge silver wire. Silver, gray, and purple beads are worked into the wire, and it's ended with a lobster clasp. The wire can be bent and stretched to fit pretty much any wrist size.

Sadly i didn't come up with this design on my own. I saw it online (?) and decided to try it out.
The ear hooks are sterling, the stars were done free-form. The second one was harder to do than the first, because i had to copy the size and shape of the existing one. Fun, quick project.

I took a ton of pictures of recently finished projects, so i should have more updates within the week. i've been very busy!

So i totally super-glued my fingers together while making this.

In reality, It's really sparkly and pops out more. It's actually rather large, like 3.5 inches across...but my hair kind of dwarfs it a bit...

Right, so this lovely was made out of rhinestones, all different shapes and colors. I just covered a metal barrette with them, and BAM! new device to try to control the hair. Working with superglue-covered objects by hand really wasn't a great idea though, my fingers were covered with rough patches from the dried glue for a couple of days after.

Blogger Revival

A few pairs of earring i made for jess. Happy 15th!

1st pair: lots of little blue beads, each one on an individual head pin, which then had to be hooked onto some chain. wayyy too much time, but very pretty.

2nd pair: The pictures really don't do the crystal drops justice. I have to say they're my favorite pair. Also the easiest to make

3rd pair: shiny blue shell buttons. Need i say more?

All three pairs were made with sterling silver ear wires.

oh, and kudos to Sam, who reminded me i had this thing.

Here's the scarf i made for Marissa...
Lion Brand yarn (color is Heather)
Lots of squares, which i then stitched together, and then added some fringe.
Took a bit longer than i expected, but it was fun!

I gave away my star blanket yesterday. They aren't opening it until Christmas, but still....it was had to part with.

There is no way that i will ever use this, but it was quick and easy and kind of cool.
Anybody want a green spiral scarf? It's a lighter green than the picture.

Anyway, babysitting saturday night was really easy. I taught all three of the kids (2 girls, one boy)how to knit! Even though they still don't really get it, it kept them busy for like 3 hours.

SOOO much better than barbies or play doh!

New scarf! I finished it today during the assembly at school. The yarn is called "Eden", and the color is 'apple'. It's so soft and warm, but it was a pain to make. It was nearly impossible to fix mistakes, because the fuz got tangled very easily...hopefully it won't become matted. ew.
It's about 7 ft long, 12 dbl crochet stitches per row, and made with a J (6 mm) crochet hook.

I need to find another project that is slightly more challenging...

I'm thinking of trying to knit a lace scarf, like http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTbranchingout.html, next. It looks kind of complicated, but since it's a scarf it shouldn't take so long that i give up on it.

What do you think?

First Post!

This weekend was busy in a relaxing sort of way. I finally got the right yarn for the baby blanket i've been meaning to make for my karate instructors! (who are expecting in june, but still....it's meant as a christmas gift, anyway.)

I found this star pattern, http://www.angelfire.com/va3/heartfeltangels/littlestarafghan.html, and made it more baby-like by modifying the colors and making it bigger(28 rows, rather than 15). I used all Caron's Simply soft, in light yellow, white, and rainbow. It was much softer than the Red Heart, which i had started out with. Although strangely i noticed that the rainbow multicolor yarn was slightly coarser than the solid color yarns.

Anyway, I used 3 rows of yellow for the border, 6 rows of rainbow, 13 rows of white, and 6 rows of yellow for the core star. It measures exactly 40" from each point to the opposite side. It took about 9 hours to complete.. I think it's my favorite project so far!
